Possible indictment against Haradinaj (Danas)
There is a possibility for indictments against the commanders of operational zones of the former Kosovo Liberation Army on the basis of the evidence presented in the report of the Clint Williamson, Chief Prosecutor of the Special team for investigation human organs trafficking in Kosovo in 1999, learned Danas from diplomatic sources in Brussels.
The most famous name among the commanders of the KLA operational zones is undoubtedly Ramush Haradinaj, who led the area "Dukadjin", whose headquarters was located in the village of Jablanica. The ICTY acquitted Haradinaj, a former Kosovo prime minister, for crimes committed against civilians in 1998. The commanders of other zones were - Rustem Mustafa, Rahman Rama, Sami Lushtaku, Shukri Buja, Ekrem Rexha, Ahmet Nesufi.
Recall, the report of Clint Williamson mention the evidence found for indictment of several former members of the KLA. They, however, pointed out that there is no evidence on trafficking in organs in Kosovo, organized crime, or on command responsibility of the central staff of the KLA. This fact implies that Kosovo's prime minister and former political leader of the KLA, Hashim Thaci will not be suspected.
“The last in a series of speculations is that we have succumbed to political pressure as recently appeared in Kosovo and Serbian media,” told Joao Sousa, spokesman of Clint Williamson, head of a special team for investigation trafficking in organs in Kosovo. Sousa adds that, as before, he will not comment on speculations, but will talk about the results of the investigation after the official publication of the report.
When asked whether during the three-year investigation they collaborated with certain institutions of the European Union, he says that they had the support of the EU, but that "Mr. Williamson's team worked completely independently." “Mostly, we have cooperated with the Serbian War Crimes Prosecution and the Government of Serbia, as well as with the relevant authorities in Kosovo. During our visits to Pristina and Belgrade, we highlighted it and thanked everyone for the excellent cooperation,” stressed Sousa.
