Hungarian Ambassador in Kosovo Laszlo Markusz says that the Hungarian government supports the idea of creating a Community/Association of Serb Municipalities, adding that Belgrade could finance the ZSO partly.

When asked by the news agency Beta, how he, as an ambassador, sees ZSO as a political and social entity and how the community should be financed, Markusz has replied that he would like to see "such a kind of autonomy, to start positively to function."
Ambassador participated in a rally in Pristina on the topic "The boycott of the Serbian community - a dialogue or tension."

He recalled at that meeting that there is a framework for ZSO, and everything depends on how that institution works in a specific context, and "depends on the people who are at the head of this institution."

According to him, at this point everyone can see a huge difference that exists between the statements of heads of negotiating teams between Belgrade and Pristina, Marko Đurić and Edita Tahiri.

- I believe that it will not be a new level of the state administration. It will, however, be an institution which will serve the Serbian representatives to harmonize the views of the Serbian municipalities and come up with a common position. This will give political legitimacy to those positions. I do not see anything wrong in this - said Markusz.

- It is a kind of cultural autonomy, and in this case it is possible for the national councils to receive financial resources, and from abroad. Thus, for example, the Hungarian National Council in Serbia receives some financial assets from Hungary, or for a specific goal - the ambassador said, when asked how he thinks the ZSO should be financed.

- I can imagine a co-financing by the Kosovo state budget and the budget of Belgrade, but it is very important that the money is spent transparently, and to know for what purposes the community representatives spent the last euro cent - said Markusz.
