Janjić: Normalization of relations does not lead to recognition of Kosovo (RTK2, Blic, Dnevnik)
Political analyst Dušan Janjić told RTK2 that a meeting at the presidential level in Brussels is of great importance for the normalization of relations.
In a statement for RTK2, Janjić estimated that no concrete decisions will be made at a meeting Thaçi- Vučić. He said that several months of “serious adaptation to this new format" will be needed for the political dialogue of the president of Serbia and Kosovo.
Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi said earlier that Pristina was interested in a new dynamic in dialogue with Belgrade, which will be completed by a full normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, and Janjić believes that under normalization he did not mean the decision on recognition of Kosovo.
- Normalization is not a process leading to recognition. Normalization is a process that leads, according to the model of the two Germanys, to the establishment of normal relations between the two functional units, said legally - the maximum that Kosovo side can expect is the establishment of sovereignty throughout the territory. Recognition is something completely different - said Janjić.
Janjić believes that a new round of dialogue will be launched only in November after the formation of the government in Pristina and possible parliamentary elections in Serbia. He expects that than topics of discussions will be the realization of the Agreement on the Community/ Association of Serb Municipalities and agreement on the formation of the Kosovo Army.
