Opposition coalition fails to reach agreement with Vetevendosje (Koha)

No agreement was reached in today’s meeting between leaders of the Vetevendosje Movement, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA). Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti said there have been setbacks from earlier agreements. “There is discordance from earlier positions of the Vetevendosje Movement and the LDK-AAK-NISMA coalition. These are mainly related to dialogue with Serbia, the process of privatization and other issues,” Kurti told reporters after the meeting. He also said the Vetevendosje Movement would not support the coalition’s candidate for the post of Assembly Speaker if an agreement is not reached beforehand. AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj, who is the coalition’s candidate for prime minister, said the parties could not agree on mechanisms that will implement the agreement. He also said he hopes an agreement would be reached before Thursday when the new assembly is scheduled to hold the constitutive session.
