Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti made it clear today to Dashiell Caldwell, director for Kosovo, Albania and Macedonia in the British Foreign Office, and to British ambassador Ian Cliff that dialogue with Serbia must be suspended. Kurti also said that the process of privatization should be stopped. Vetevendosje issued a communiqué after the meeting saying that Kurti informed Caldwell and Cliff about post-election developments and meetings between political parties. “We said that there are three phases. Leader of Alliance for Future of Kosovo (AAK) and opposition’s candidate for prime minister, Ramush Haradinaj, said in an interview for Klan Kosova that he regrets the opposition coalition was not reached before elections. “I tried but there simply wasn’t the necessary readiness”, he said.

“We had before us the option of either having Thaci fully or partially; either admitting defeat of providing a change for Kosovo”, said Haradinaj adding that the opposition decided to say no to a third mandate to Thaci government and therefore formed a majority in the Assembly.

It seems the troubles of the PDK leader Hashim Thaci are not about to end. After the LDK-AAK-Nisma coalition, it seems there is more turmoil in store for PDK.

One of the parties of the pre-election coalition, Justice Party (PD), could “betray” the PDK as soon as election results are certified.

Alliance for Future of Kosovo (AAK) has already begun discussing names of those who could take up senior posts in a government led by Ramush Haradinaj.

Sources said that Haradinaj has begun selecting names of party officials who could be appointed ministers and deputy ministers. “Haradinaj is committed to work with new people, clean and well-prepared”, said a source.

One of the first steps of the next government consisting of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and the Initiative for Kosovo (Nisma) will be to unblock the law on Pristina in the Assembly, a source close to the signatories of the agreement told the news website. The source said this was one of the reasons why Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti decided to support a new government led by AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj. The adoption of the law on Pristina has been blocked in the Assembly of Kosovo for seven years now.

Sources told Gazeta Blic that AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj met today in Pristina with Nisma leader Fatmir Limaj. The two leaders discussed a coalition of opposition parties against the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) led by Hashim Thaci. The news agency tried to contact AAK and Nisma representatives but they were not available for comment. Sources also told the news agency that after meeting Limaj, Haradinaj also met with Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti.
