Gjukaj: Citizens did not only pay for electricity in the north but for all Serb-majority areas (Koha)

Director of the Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK), Arben Gjukaj, told KTV that citizens of Kosovo were not only charged for unpaid electricity in the north but for all areas with Serb majority. Gjukaj said that unpaid bills were sent to both UNMIK and the government of Kosovo. “After independence, one bill went to UNMIK and one to the government of Kosovo. Citizens of Kosovo did not pay only for the north but for all Serb enclaves in Kosovo,” Gjukaj said.

Investigations into privatization of KEK distribution network (Gazeta Blic)

Law enforcement authorities are investigating the privatization of the distribution and supply network of the Kosovo Power Corporation (KEK). Sources in the EU Rule of Law mission in Kosovo (EULEX), which confirmed the investigations, said considerable material has been collected and that concrete results are expected. “Investigations are on the right track,” the source said. Meanwhile, EULEX officials could not confirm the start of investigations. The website recalls that the distribution and supply network was privatized two years ago for €26.3 million.

Blast in “Kosova A” deepens energy crisis in Kosovo (Koha)

Generation of electricity in Kosovo has been visibly reduced after the explosion in the “Kosova A” power plant and the electricity is currently being generated only by one unit of “Kosova B”. Director of Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK), Arben Gjukaj, said the energy crisis in Kosovo has deepened after the blast in “Kosova A” power plant. However, he added that KEK has presented the plan for overcoming the situation which requires assistance from everyone.
