Commission for Return and Community Affairs established (KIM Radio)

Inter-ministerial Commission for Return and Community Affairs was established yesterday, following the proposal of the Kosovo Minister for Return and Communities, Dalibor Jevtic, KIM Radio reported.

By this decision two inter-ministerial commissions from the previous government were united, aiming to unite actions of the ministries in resolving the issues affecting the return process and the situation of non-majority communities in Kosovo.

The Commission for the Rights and Interests of Communities and Return, chaired by Igor Simic, President of the Commission, held a session on which the main item on the agenda was the consideration of the Draft Law on the Budget for 2018 and in connection to budgetary allocations for the Ministry of Community and Return, reports KIM radio.

Jevtic: We did not join the government to block it (RTK2, DW)

Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Dalibor Jevtic says for DW that the Serbian List has excellent cooperation with Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj and that more important are everyday life issues from the issues of the status of Kosovo, reports RTK2.

The current Kosovo government has included the issue of the Community/Association of Serb municipalities (ZSO) in its program, and Jevtic expects that next year concrete steps will be taken.

Kosovo government minister Dalibor Jevtic says Serbs and Albanians need to build trust - and that Kosovo Serb children should learn the Albanian language to ensure better communication for the future.

“The key word today in Kosovo is trust, which has to be built both between the two communities and towards [state] institutions,” Dalibor Jevtic, the Minister for Communities and Returns in the Kosovo government, told BIRN in an interview.

Kosovo Government to pay quarter million euros to SOC (Tanjug)

The Kosovo Government adopted a decision to pay rent for the premises, owned by the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC) in Pristina, used for a long time by Kosovo Anti-Corruption Agency, Tanjug news agency reported today.

The decision, adopted unanimously, says that a debt in the amount of almost 285.484 euros, covering the rental period since 15 July 2016 till today, would be paid to the SOC.

Jevtic: To establish ASM as agreed (KIM Radio)

Kosovo Minister for Communities and Returns said in a meeting with the Slovenian Ambassador in Pristina, Bojan Bertoncelj that concrete steps are missing in resolving the minority issues, among them the most important is the establishment of the Association of Serb Municipalities (ASM), KIM Radio reported.

“The beginning of the establishment of the ASM opens a door to continue dialogue in Brussels, and we expect the ASM to be established as it was agreed in Brussels,” Jevtic further said.

Jevtic: We started to solve the problem of using the Serbian language in Kosovo (Kontakt plus radio)

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communities and Return Dalibor Jevtic said that the implementation of the Law was the key to solving the problem of equal language use in Kosovo. Jevtic stressed that for the first time there was a full commitment of the Government of Kosovo to solve the issue of equal use of languages in a quality way, reported Kontakt plus radio.

Ljubozda: Graffiti against Serbs written (KIM Radio)

Insulting graffiti were written on Sunday on the wall of the house, accommodating Serbs who have returned to their place of origin, in the village of Ljubozda, nearby Istok, KIM Radio reported.

Minister for Communities and Returns, Dalibor Jevtic expressed concern over the incident and requested responsible bodies to provide better protection of Serb returnees, KIM Radio further said.

Pristina: Laws on minority rights are good, but not implemented (KIM Radio)

There is a good legal framework on the rights of non-majority communities in Kosovo, however, it is not implemented, KIM Radio reported.

This was conclusion made at the regional conference “Protection and promotion of human rights and non-majority communities rights” held in Pristina yesterday.

Representatives of the Kosovo government, international organizations, and guests from Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Albanian gathered at the conference to discuss about the rights of the non-majority communities.
