President Aleksandar Vucic has presented about 60 state decorations to deserving individuals and institutions on Sretenje, Serbia's Statehood Day.

The ceremony in the Presidency was attended by ministers Ivica Dacic, Nebojsa Stefanovic, Zlatibor Loncar, Aleksandar Vulin, Vladan Vukosavljevivic, chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina Milorad Dodik, and Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov, who is among the recipients.

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic is today taking part in the ceremonies in Orasac, central Serbia.

Serbia is today celebrating Statehood Day - known also as Sretenje, as it coincides with the Orthodox feast of Sretenje (Candlemas). On this day in 1804, the Serbs, led by Djordje "Karadjordje" Petrovic, decided to start the First Uprising against occupying Ottoman Turks.

On the same day in 1835, the first constitution of the modern Serbian state was adopted in the town of Kragujevac. President Aleksandar Vucic is this Friday presenting state decorations to deserving individuals and institutions.

Serbia is making big strides forward in developing its economy, President Aleksadar Vucic said on Thursday in Bogatic, in the west of the country. Vucic is touring this area as he continues his “Future of Serbia" campaign, started last week.

"Regardless of how terrible our position was a few years ago, as we were on the verge, over the abyss of bankruptcy, now the situation is better in the state coffers and we have higher salaries and pensions," Vucic said.

The European Commission has announced that the EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn would be member of a panel “Security in Southeastern Europe” at the Munich Conference, together with the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo President Hashim Thaci on 16^th February.

Alliance for Serbia (SZS) requested from the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to urgently reveal what he has negotiated with Kosovo President Hashim Thaci during the meetings they had, Danas daily reports.

The Alliance, in a press statement, stressed that Thaci has admitted having secret meetings with the Serbian President Vucic in Paris, New York, Vatican, Brussels and Vienna, thus unequivocally confirming allegations put forward earlier by Peoples’ Party leader Vuk Jeremic, who spoke publicly about these meetings on several occasions.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he wishes that Pristina revokes the tariffs and to continue talks, Tanjug news agency reported. Vucic added, while there are no talks between Belgrade and Pristina, there is a danger of violence against the Serbian population.

Commenting on the possibility that Ramush Haradinaj cancels decision on tariffs, Vucic told TV Pink that Haradinaj is thinking about that for a long time.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with Russian Federation Ambassador to Serbia, Alexander Chepurin, who handed over to him a letter from the Russian President Vladimir Putin, sent on the occasion of Serbia’s Statehood Day, Danas daily reports.

In a letter, the Russian President said that “Russia highly values strategic partnership and relations with Serbia,” and “with satisfaction emphasizes that cooperation between the two countries evolves dynamically in the most diverse areas.”

European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia, David McAllister urged Pristina authorities to revoke the decision on tariffs on goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tanjug news agency reported.

He noted it is not easy, however Aleksandar Vucic and Hashim Thaci have raised the dialogue to the new level. He called on the both sides to continue dialogue in order to advance on their respective paths to the EU.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met in Belgrade on Tuesday with Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova in charge of European Integration Iurie Leanca. Vucic emphasized that it was necessary to encourage improvement of political dialogue and economic cooperation between the two countries, since bilateral relations are friendly, but not sufficiently developed

Vucic also expressed his gratitude for the principled position of Moldova not to recognize unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, and for the country's support on this issue in regional and international organizations.

President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday that without talks, there is no solution to the Kosovo issue. He stressed that Serbia is strong enough to continue building a better future even without reaching an agreement on this problem.
