Former US envoy to Serbia: Vucic ready to talk, not to sign document (Danas, FoNet, N1)

Cameron Munter, a former US ambassador to Serbia, told belgrade based daily Danas that President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic was ready to talk about an agreement on the normalisation of relations with Pristina, but not to “sign a paper”, quoted Serbian media.

Munter said he believed it was okay since there were people in Kosovo also ready to negotiate.

Munter: Solution for Kosovo cannot be dictated from aside (RTS)  

Former US Ambassador to Serbia and Chair of the East-West Institute Cameron Munter opined that solution to the Kosovo issue can not be “dictated from aside” but it must be an outcome of an agreement by Belgrade and Pristina, RTS reported.

Munter added it depends upon Belgrade and Pristina only when would the negotiations continue, which he deemed crucial for the better future of citizens in Serbia and Kosovo. He also said the format, content and outcome of the negotiations to the greatest extend depend upon the decisions of the two sides.

Former US ambassador to Serbia, now The EastWest Institute CIO and President, Cameron Munter, told N1 on Thursday that the best solution for both Belgrade and Pristina would be their mutual recognition, adding he was surprised with Serbia’s authorities reaction to current Washington envoy’s statement that for his country Kosovo was an independent state.

"As ambassador Scott said, it is nothing new. That’s the US stand about a real state, as Serbia is a real state,” Cameron Munter, who served as the US envoy in Serbia during Kosovo declaration of independence in 2008 said.

Former USA Ambassador to Serbia, Cameron Munter, who is now heading the The East-West Institute, said he is an optimist, seeing the people in the region having the spirit and willingness to resolve the issues, shared by all, Tanjug news agency reported.

In that sense, he particularly mentioned Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic.

Munter believes that the crucial solution must come from the people and leadership in the region.

Former USA Ambassador to Serbia, Cameron Munter and the President of the East-West Institute, stated to Tanjug news agency that the initiation of an internal dialogue on Kosovo is an excellent initiative and expressed hope it would be successful.

“This is a very welcome decision. I think Serbia and Kosovo are ready to talk about the future within the EU, not only leadership but ordinary people as well.”

Munter stated that the East-West Institute, wants to help in this process, and they are opening a regional office in Belgrade.
