MITROVICA -- The former town hall building in North Kosovska Mitrovica, where are now civil protection premises, came under attack twice on Sunday evening.
Unknown perpetrators first threw three Molotov cocktails at around 19:00 CET in front of a civil protection vehicle that was parked outside the former town hall building, and then stoned it at around 22:30, said eyewitnesses.
No one was injured and no damage was made in the attacks.
Kosovo Police raided several premises in Mitrovica North on Thursday during a wide-scale operation against drugs and weapons. Zeljko Bojic, head of police operations in the north, told Kosovapress that the operation went according to plan and that there were no incidents. Kosovo Police deputy director for the north, Besim Hoti, said the police operation was successful even though no drugs or weapons were confiscated. “What is important is that we have conveyed a clear message to the people as far as preventing different criminal offences is concerned,” Hoti said.
KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - KFOR is playing a key role in establishing stability in northern Kosovo-Metohija, it was concluded on Tuesday in a meeting between the KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, and North Mitrovica Mayor Goran Rakic.
The meeting in Kosovska Mitrovica dealt with the security and economic situation in northern Kosovo-Metohija, KFOR stated in a release.
As Rakic underscored, KFOR is an important actor that is playing a key role in establishing stability in this area and creating conditions for a secure and prosperous environment.
BELGRADE - Our people and our state have a future in Kosovo, if we want the future to be sustainable, we must be united, said the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric.
"If we want the future to be sustainable, certain and strong we must all be united," said Djuric from Mitrovica, which hosts the event "Bozur Fest" organized by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
He said we should all often go to Kosovo, to convince ourselves of the natural beauty, historical and cultural heritage to which we can be proud of.
A public hearing regarding the drafting of the budget of the municipality of North Mitrovica for 2015 was held in the northern part of Mitrovica. The budget draft was presented to the citizens and councillors of the north Mitrovica Assembly by Mayor Goran Rakic and head of the Administrative Office of northern Mitrovica Adriana Hodzic.
Rakic said that they received budget of 4.5 million euros from the Ministry of Finance from Pristina, but, according to him, for the normal functioning of the city it takes more than 30 million.
Sources told the news agency that two young Albanians were beaten up on Wednesday evening by members of the so-called Civil Protection in Mitrovica North. According to sources, the two youths had crossed the main bridge over Ibar River when they were attacked by six-seven members of the Civil Protection.
