One hundred and fifty former members of the Serbian MUP (Ministry of Internal Affairs) in Kosovo who want solution to their judicial working status in accordance to the Serbian laws, protested today in front of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo in Mitrovica North. Their basic request is to reach a decision based on Serbia’s Constitution and Laws for pensioning the MUP members in Kosovo, and return to their duties for those who refuse early retirement. They threatened Serbia’s state leaders with a hunger strike if their demands are not fulfilled.

The EU Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, today while addressing the Kosovo Assembly MPs said the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) is a great achievement and crucial for Kosovo on its path towards the EU. This agreement, Hahn said, aims to political dialogue and support for Kosovo to improve international cooperation.

Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, said today that Kosovo will not give up on its bid to join UNESCO, because according to him, Kosovo needs UNESCO but also has much to offer to this organization. Mustafa at a joint press conference with the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Arsim Bajrami, said that Kosovo will meet all the necessary requirements for a worthy membership. “The language that Serbia is using against Kosovo's membership in UNESCO is unacceptable.

Vetevendosje Movement parliamentary group chief, Glauk Konjufca, said today that Kosovo was able to sign the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) with the EU only because of the agreements reached with Serbia in Brussels. "The SAA with the EU is being ratified by contesting the state of Kosovo, since a footnote was put in Kosovo’s name. Kosovo’s integration is passing through Belgrade, " Konjufca said.

The government of Kosovo discussed in its meeting today the draft law for ratification of the Stabilization Association Agreement between Kosovo and the European Union. The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, said that they are submitting the SAA draft law to the Assembly in order to be proceeded as soon as possible and for Kosovo to move faster in the integrating processes.

The European Union, has requested on Tuesday from Kosovo’s Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri, to accelerate endorsement of the law for cadaster and to make the preparations for establishment of the Technical Agency which would have for its task comparison and verification of the cadastre documents which will be returned from Serbia to the Kosovo database.

Kosovo Assembly’s President, Kadri Veseli accused the opposition for isolating Kosovo, adding that the best proof for this is impossibility of the Austrian President, Heinz Fischer to address the Assembly, despite his expressed will to do so.

The Presidency of the Kosovo Assembly today decided that the next Assembly session to be held on Monday, 2 November. Assembly President Kadri Veseli called on the security authorities to provide security during the session and said that “the security authorities should be held accountable for any drugs, alcohol, teargas and eggs entering the Assembly building.”
