Kozarev and Melzer on establishing the rule of law in Kosovo (RTK2)

Deputy Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Dusan Kozarev met today Nils Melzer, the Special Rapporteur of the UN Human Rights Council on Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, reports RTK2.

During the meeting, Melzer was informed about the violations of the human rights of Serbs and other non-Albanians in Kosovo. Melzer is in the process of preparing a report for the UN Human Rights Council and is on a several-day visit to Serbia, reports RTK2.

Rakic: The same attitude on the Kosovo army; there are no more negotiations on the ZSO (Kontakt plus radio, Politika)

President of the Serb List Goran Rakic in an interview for the Belgrade based daily Politika rejected speculations and reiterated the unique position of that party, that it would not support the formation of the Kosovo army, and said that there are no further negotiations on the Community/Association of Serb Municipalities (ZSO), and that he expects its formation.

Ljubozda: Graffiti against Serbs written (KIM Radio)

Insulting graffiti were written on Sunday on the wall of the house, accommodating Serbs who have returned to their place of origin, in the village of Ljubozda, nearby Istok, KIM Radio reported.

Minister for Communities and Returns, Dalibor Jevtic expressed concern over the incident and requested responsible bodies to provide better protection of Serb returnees, KIM Radio further said.

Istok/Istog: House of a returnee demolished (KoSSev)

At a newly built house of returnee Blagoje Zuvić in the village Dragoljevac in Istok/Istog municipality, last night were knocked out almost all the windows and a wall of the front door was damaged, reported KoSSev.

The Ministry of Communities and Returns in the Kosovo government announced that this was the second intimidation of the returnee - the first time it happened when the construction of his house has started.

Serbs difficult to their homes and farms (KIM radio)

In Ljubožda village, Istog/Istok municipality, the first Serbian house is being renewed. Thirteen families returned to this village after eighteen years. They are waiting for the reconstruction of destroyed houses.

KIM Radio reports that they are still the owners of the land in the village, and state that this is the reason why their return encountered resistance from neighbours.

Ministry for Communities and Return reported that a door and construction material on the house of R.M. were set on fire in the village Dragoljevac, municipality of Istok, as well as construction material for the house of B.Z.

The case was reported to the police.

 

Jevtić: Frequent incidents are the cause of an unsuccessful return (KIM radio)

Latest incidents in Kosovo reflect the current state of society, and the relationship towards return, said Minister for Communities and Return Dalibor Jevtić.

Jevtić as a response to the theft of livestock of Kata Grujić from Petrič, robbery of Boban and Danilo Stepić's homes in the village of Drenovac, and burning of the house of Stanislav Vukić, says that all of this indicates the current situation in Kosovo, adding that this is a serious reason for the unsuccessful return in this year.

A house of returnee set on fire near Klokot (Kontakt plus radio)

House of Stanislav Vukić was set on fire in a hamlet Podgorce near Klokot. Fire-fighters and villagers have prevented the flame to engulf the whole house, RTS correspondent reports.

Vukić is a returnee, at the time of the outbreak of a fire nobody was in the house.

The villagers suspect that it was deliberately set on fire. The police report is expected.

 

 

Robbery of two households in the village of Drenovac near Klina/Klinë (KIM radio)

Unknown perpetrators last night have robbed households of Danilo and Boban Stepić, Serb returnees in the village of Drenovac near Klina/Klinë, confirms for the Beta news agency resident of this village.

Poultry and a wheelbarrow were stolen and material damage has been made to both households.

According to the villagers, the police conducted an investigation and took statements from the hosts.
