London changes the format of the Security Council session on Kosovo? (RTS)

Media in Serbia announces today that the United Kingdom takes over the presidency of the United Nations Security Council in August. Serbian national broadcaster, RTS reports that the Serbian foreign minister confirmed that London could ask for the sessions on Kosovo to be abolished or to be closed to the public.

Stefanovic: Security situation in Kosovo is very serious (Serbian media)

The overall security situation in Kosovo is very serious - Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said in Belgrade on Friday.

Stefanovic told this to Assistant UN Secretary-General Alexander Zuev, and reiterated Serbia's position on the need for UNMIK's continued presence on the ground.

UNMIK: Tanin calls for leaders' responsibility and calm (Serbian media)

UNMIK chief Zahir Tanin assessed last night that yesterday's developments in Kosovo were unacceptable and has urged the authorities in Belgrade and Pristina to avoid provocations and take the steps necessary to preserve the peace and security of citizens, reported Serbian media.

He said in a UNMIK statement that it was necessary that all interested avoid any rhetoric or measures that could escalate the situation further.

"Commanders of KLA zone responsible for journalist murder" (UNS, B92)

Two persons: B. S. and M. S, "apparently connected with the KLA", are mentioned in the documents of the UNMIK Missing Persons Unit.

They are mentioned under suspicion of involvement in the crime of the disappearance of Mr. Ljubomir Knezevic, the Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) is reporting on its website.

Knezevis was a journalist of the Pristina newspaper Jedinstvo and a correspondent of Politika.

Kosovo Minister for Local Governance and Administration, Ivan Todosijevic and Head of UNMIK’s Office for Community Support, Leonid Markaryan discussed today functioning of local self-governance and municipal structures responsible for the protection of community rights.

Appointments of deputy mayors for communities and the role of the local municipal offices for communities in Kosovo were also discussed. Todosijevic highlighted support UNMIK offers in the protection of community rights as very significant.

Vulin: We must not allow reduction of UNMIK (KiM Radio)

Serbian Minister of Defense, thinks that one of the biggest mistakes of the Serbian diplomacy was made during times when Boris Tadic and Vuk Jeremic were in power, by bringing in EULEX and removing UNMIK from Kosovo, KiM Radio reported.

“This had to be done with the consent of Serbia, and Serbia due to only its and those people who were in power known reasons did it,” Vulin said.
