OSCE Mission in Kosovo violates the right of Serbs on informing (KiM radio)

The Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) with its branch Association of Journalists of Kosovo and Metohija (DNKiM) sent a protest letter to the OSCE mission, because it didn’t provide translation for the Serbian journalists, during the conference organized in Pristina on prevention of violent extremism and radicalism.

Ten days ago the President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi announced in Vienna that soon will start formation of working groups that would work on the draft of the Statute of ZSO (Association/Community of Serb municipalities). However, there is no official confirmation in Pristina about what "soon" meant.

Youth basketball camp sets off in Gërmia Park (Kallxo.com)

A junior basketball tournament organised by the OSCE has started yesterday in the Gërmia Park in Pristina. OSCE deputy head of mission in Kosovo, Paivi Nikander, said the event is aimed at uniting young basketball players of different communities. “I believe the joint commitment of all and the will and youth enthusiasm will lead to a common goal and commitment towards a direct and sincere dialogue above any religious, community, or language identity”, said Nikander.

Pilot-project measuring rule of law in municipalities presented in Pristina (Koha)

A pilot-project measuring the rule of law in public administration in Kosovo municipalities, sponsored by the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in Kosovo (UNDP) in cooperation with the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and NGO FOL, was presented on Tuesday in Pristina.

Training for Kosovo-Serb judges and prosecutors from northern Kosovo has been held in Montenegro in organization of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo. The head of OSCE Mission in Kosovo Jean-Claude Schlumberger said that ‘judicial system in northern Kosovo was for years dysfunctional’. “Such situation negatively influenced on the rule of law, including the right on access to justice and trials within the reasonable time,” said Schlumberger.

OSCE condemns attack on TV Most crew in Kosovo (Tanjug, B92)

Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatovic Wednesday condemned an attack on a TV Most crew in Obilic, central Kosovo on Tuesday.

Violence against journalists is an attack on freedom of speech and society in general, Mijatovic said in a release.

Mijatovic said it was important to carry out a swift and thorough investigation into the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Government, OSCE agree on Serbian elections in Kosovo (Kallxo)

The Kosovo government and the OSCE Mission in Kosovo have reached an agreement for the OSCE to facilitate the voting of Kosovo Serbs in the Serbian parliamentary elections on April 24. The OSCE mission issued a statement today confirming the agreement. “The Mission confirms to conduct collection of votes operation in Kosovo to enable eligible voters access to Serbian parliamentary elections. The Mission is now planning all operational details and will inform the public accordingly,” the statement noted.
