Minister of Communities and Returns in the Kosovo government Dalibor Jevtic denied speculations that MPs of the Serbian List gave “the offer” in order to vote support for the announced establishment of the Kosovo Army. “The Serbian List insists on the fulfilment of the coalition agreement with PDK and LDK, but there is not a word about ‘trading with the Serbian votes for the establishment of the Kosovo Armed Forces.’ No one from the government or the assembly discussed with us, Serbian MPs, the issue of Kosovo Army. That issue requires broader dialogue.

The situation in Kosovo is calm and stable and is improving every day, thanks to the determination of KFOR and Kosovo security organizations. However, unforeseen situation is possible due to the fragile nature of inter-ethnic relations, said the KFOR commander, Italian General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo.

Can one guarantee the security in the north of Kosovo?

We can provide security in Kosovo north in coordination with the Kosovo police and EULEX. KFOR has about 5,000 troops in Kosovo that can quickly be deployed throughout the territory.

Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni met on Tuesday with the Commander of NATO Joint Force Naples, Admiral Mark Ferguson. Hyseni and Ferguson discussed the issue of security for the people of Kosovo and the rule of law. Admiral Ferguson expressed his willingness and commitment to support Ministry of Internal Affairs in its development path. Topic of discussion was also the issue of cross-border cooperation with neighboring countries in maintaining peace and security, and Kosovo’s progress in combating organized crime, corruption and violent extremism.

“Kosovo has committed itself that Kosovo Security Force troops would not embark in the north of Kosovo without a preliminary permission from NATO,” this is NATO’s official response to Radio Kosova.

This office also rejected the claims of Serbian officials for existence of an agreement between NATO and Serbia which does not allow embarking of KSF as well as the future Armed Forces troops in the northern municipalities.

On the sixteenth anniversary of NATO strikes in Kosovo, Brussels based correspondent of this daily, Augustin Palokaj, writes that each year at this date, people of Kosovo remember where they were when they heard the news of the air strikes, and remember the happiness that they felt for the end of Slobodan Milosevic’s aggression in former Yugoslavia, and his intention of creating greater Serbia. Palokaj further brings arguments which according to him give “not one but a hundred of good reasons for NATO’s intervention at that time.”

Tuesday marks the 11th anniversary of the large scale violence organized in Kosovo against Serbs, known in Serbia as "the March Pogrom."

4,012 Serbs were driven from their homes, more than 900 houses belonging to Serbs, Romas and Ashakalis were set on fire, while 35 Serbian Orthodox churches and monasteries were destroyed and desecrated.

Association of missing persons in Kosovo and Metohija and the Association of missing Albanians have agreed with the families to seek together all disappeared.

This was after the meeting, "Non-governmental associations for Missing Persons - Example of best practice and cooperation between communities", in Pristina, said the coordinator of the Association for missing persons in Kosovo, Milorad Trifunovic.

Trifunovic told BETA that the policy remains the major obstacle to resolving the fate of missing Serbs and Albanians.

The KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo visited Montenegro on Friday. Figliuolo met with Montenegrin Minister of Defense, Milica Pejanovic Djurisic and Minister of Interior Raško Konjević, with whom discussed the security situation in the region and the importance of close cooperation between the authorities of Kosovo and Montenegro on joint border management. Djurisic underlined the importance of KFOR to ensure a quiet and safe environment in Kosovo under the UN Resolution 1244.

The mission of KFOR remains committed to the mission of providing security and freedom of movement for all citizens of Kosovo, NATO's supreme commander for Europe, US General Philip Breedlove said.

The first man of NATO in Europe, US General Philip Breedlove said during a visit to Kosovo that he is extremely pleased with the work and efforts of KFOR soldiers, adding that KFOR daily progresses towards a more flexible and smaller mission in Kosovo, RTK2 reported.

“KFOR will continue to support and cooperate with the United Nations, the European Union and other international actors. It will continue to support the Kosovo Police and EULEX,” said KFOR Commander, Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, during a meeting with the Ambassador of Bulgaria in Kosovo, Nedialtcho Dimitrov Dantchev, reported KFOR.
