Dacic: Vucic in Brussels with Mogherini only (RTS, B92)

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will talk in Brussels with European representatives only, but not with Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, RTS reported.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic neither confirmed nor denied this information, saying it is certain Vucic would talk to EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, and would decide there about other meetings.

Deadline of all deadlines - May 2019? (B92)

Untying the "Kosovo knot" has been the focus of attention domestically for months, and it seems a final deadline for a final agreement has come from Brussels, B92 reports.

Although political figures in high-ranking state posts often mentioned various deadlines and suggested dates for a final solution, given the current situation in both Belgrade and Pristina, their eyes are more than ever on the EU.

Hahn without answer on "territory exchange", but mentions new deadline (B92, RFE)

EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn did not directly reply to RFE's question regarding the idea of "delimitation" to solve the Kosovo issue.

B92 reported, quoting RFE, that he stressed that in order to resolve any bilateral conflict, any possible solution must contribute to the wider stability of the region and should  not be at the expense of others in the region.

Dacic: One of the ideas is a delimitation, but certain we will not discuss two things (TV Pink, Blic)

Foreign Minister of Serbia Ivica Dacic says that a solution is sought for the Kosovo issue and that a delimitation with the Albanians is just one idea, but that there are no other ideas.

He added that everyone now is opening the door to dialogue, but that there will certainly not be a discussion of two things - for Kosovo to be autonomous within Serbia and Serbia to recognize unilaterally declared Kosovo.

Pacolli: The solution is a common economic zone (Tanjug, Kontakt plus radio)

Kosovo Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli said that he was against the idea of a correction of the Kosovo border and estimated that the solution was to establish a common economic zone, reports Serbian media.

Pacoli in Vienna, in his statement to Belgrade based news agency Tanjug, where he had a speech in the EU representation, said that there should not be divisions on the grounds of ethnicity, language, religion and anything else, but that we must live together and be committed to the economy.

Ministry: 55% of Serbian citizens support EU membership (BETA, TV N1)

If a referendum was held now, 55 percent of Serbian nationals would say yes to the country’s European Union membership, a Ministry for European Integration’s survey published on Tuesday said, the Beta news agency reported.

The survey following the Euro-barometer standards covered 1,050 respondents older than 18 years of age, showed that all positive perceptions of the EU were on the rise.

The European Union should accept an agreement between Serbs and ethnic Albanians to settle their long-standing dispute over Kosovo, a top official of the bloc said, seeking to dispel fears that any redrawing of the Balkan border might reignite feuds in the volatile region.

EU commissioner goes against Merkel on Balkans borders (EU Observer)

The European Commission has endorsed the idea of a potential Kosovo-Serbia border change, going against Germany and breaking a former taboo.

"Whatever the solution finally is, and we should not exclude anything ... [it] should respect that the overarching goal is stability in the region," EU enlargement commissioner Johannes Hahn said at a symposium in Alpbach, Austria, on Saturday (25 August).

"Everywhere is similar, journalists are intimidated” (RTV KIM, Radio kontakt plus)

Publication “Invisible Violence – Stories from Redaction” prepared by Croatian Association of Journalists was presented in Pristina, RTV KIM reports. According to the research, 70% of interviewed journalists said they would change the job or media outlet, listing low salaries (42%) and censorship within the media outlet (15%) as the main reasons.

The research on whether the journalists have adequate conditions to carry out their duties, lasted six months and was implemented in different media outlets in Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Montenegro.

Vucic: To reach a deal with Albanians for benefit of all (BETA)

Belgrade-Pristina dialogue should continue since an eventual solution will have a positive effect on the whole region, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said during a joint press conference with the presidents of Kosovo, Slovenia, Austria, and EU official in Austria on Sunday, BETA news agency reported.

Vucic added he said during the meeting with his Kosovo counterpart Hashim Thaci, mediated by the Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz and the EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn that “It (finding solution) will not go easily.”
