Dulitzky: Justice to prevail for missing persons (Kosovapress)

Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga met today with a delegation of the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances, led by Ariel Dulitzky. The delegation is visiting Kosovo and the Balkans on a fact-finding mission related to missing persons. Jahjaga said the fate of over 1,700 missing persons needs to be resolved as quickly as possible, as this would help heal a grave wound in society and help families of missing persons to find peace. Jahjaga said this would also help foster peace and stability in the Balkans and create conditions for trust and reconciliation.

Constitutional Court to reply this week (Zeri)

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo is expected this week to deliver its ruling on President Atifete Jahjaga’s request for clarification of certain articles pertaining to her competencies in proposing a candidate to form the future government. Legal expert Riza Smaka said the court could come up with its decision in the next three days although he noted that the articles at hand are quite clear and there is no need for them to be interpreted by the Court. “The Constitution is clear that the one that has the majority in the Assembly of Kosovo forms the government”, said Smaka.

Government calls for calm (Lajm)

The Kosovo government, through a press release, called on protesters to show calm, maturity and restraint. The press release adds that the new barricade over the Iber/Ibar River will be removed soon, in accordance with the laws of Kosovo and the Brussels agreement for the normalization of relations between Pristina and Belgrade. Meanwhile, Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga called on Kosovo citizens to help law enforcement authorities to do their work.

Jahjaga: Reinstatement of Mitrovica barricade is unacceptable (Botapress)

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, met with KFOR commander Salvatore Farina. They talked about the present situation in Mitrovica and the northern municipalities. Jahjaga said the reinstatement of the Mitrovica barricade was unacceptable and violates freedom of movement for all people. She added that the reinstatement prevents progress and the full integration of all people into the social and institutional life of Kosovo.

Jahjaga in Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict (Lajm)

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, took part in the official opening in London of the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict. The Global Summit was organized by the British Foreign Office Secretary, William Hague, and the Special Representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Angelina Jolie. Participants at the Summit included high-level delegates from all over the world, UN representatives, and Foreign Ministers. The EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Catherine Ashton, also took part.

Jahjaga commends people of Kosovo on democratic elections (Kosova Sot)

Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga issued a statement saying that yesterday's elections were peaceful, with a satisfactory voter turnout, including from the northern part of Kosovo. Jahjaga congratulated the people of Kosovo for their participation in the elections and their contribution to the democratic process. "Kosovo and its people passed the test with dignity and maturity. In the next couple of days, it is important to show the same commitment and contribute to the conclusion of this democratic process that is crucial for our country's future," she said.
