Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, received today in a farewell meeting the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General in Kosovo, Farid Zarif. President Jahjaga praised Zarif's work as head of the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) and his commitment during the mandate in Kosovo and congratulated him on his new assignment. Jahjaga said that Kosovo is consolidating internationally and stressed the importance of the support for membership in international organizations, in particular in the UN.

The Law on Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutor and the Law on legal defense and financial support for potential indicted persons by the special court were sent yesterday to Kosovo’s President Atifete Jahjaga for endorsement. The Constitution of Kosovo gives an eight day deadline to the President to decree or reject the Laws.

The government of Kosovo approved during today’s regular meeting the report of the government commission for demarcation of the borderline with Montenegro. In this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Hashim Thaci said that this border is in accordance with the one of 1974 and Ahtisaari’s package.

The Brussels based correspondent of this daily, Augustin Palokaj, writes that the public opinion in Kosovo is recently dealing with an interview that the President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, gave to the German public broadcaster, ZDF. “We call it a failed interview, because the German journalist did not receive an answer to the question that concerns the German opinion and the President also did not manage to convey her message, for which we do not know what it was,” Palokaj writes.

Citing unnamed international sources, the news site reports that Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga enjoys great support to have another mandate in office. “The Americans want to keep Jahjaga as President of Kosovo for another mandate. Anelay said she would meet Kosovo’s top leaders to discuss the special court and that she has a clear message. “My message is clear. Kosovo has sent a clear message that it wants to play an active role in the international arena.
