Jahjaga: We should avoid establishment of special court by the UN (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, met today in London with Britain’s Foreign Secretary, Philip Hammond, with whom she discussed Kosovo’s challenges, rule of law, extremist threats and Kosovo’s European future. Jahjaga said that Kosovo institutions believe in the principal of justice for all, and that she hopes that Kosovo will soon fulfill international obligations by voting for the establishment of the special court, in order to avoid a step that could be undertaken on this issue by the United Nations Security Council.

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga met on Wednesday in London the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Special Representative of the British Prime Minister for the prevention of sexual violence in conflict, Baroness Joyce Anelay with whom she discussed the institutional and social initiatives in Kosovo to rehabilitate and reintegrate the survivors of rape during the war in Kosovo. Jahjaga informed Baroness Anelay about the inter-institutional commitments to provide legal protection and to strengthen the legal status in the society of the survivors of this war crime.

Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, met on Monday the representatives of the Board of the Group of Women MPs, headed by Blerta Deliu-Kodra, Time Kadrijaj and Shukrie Bytyqi. Jahjaga congratulated the new board emphasizing the importance of its work and expressed her commitment to support the group of women, in all activities on the empowerment of women and the achievement of gender equality.

Status of sexual violence victims to soon be recognised (Gazeta Blic)

President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga convened a meeting today of the National Council for Survivors of Sexual Violence during the War in an effort to finalise the regulation for verification of the status of victims of sexual violence. Jahjaga said the recognition of the status of victims is an important step forward and urged the government of Kosovo to set up a relevant commission as soon as possible. To this, Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Arban Abrashi, said the commission will be established soon and the verification process will begin this year.

Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga said on Friday that Kosovo will take care of women, adhering to tell their story because shame is not on them but on those who committed the crime. "This is only the first step and we are left with much to do,” she said. Jahjaga made these comments during the opening of the giant art installation, with thousands of dresses hung on washing lines in a tribute to survivors of sexual violence during the 1999 conflict in Kosovo.

Jahjaga’s office: Nikolic paradoxical (Telegrafi)

The Office of the Kosovo President, Atifete Jahjaga, has reacted to the statements the Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic made against Jahjaga at the Brdo-Brijuni regional summit. Jahjaga’s office said that Nikolic caused a “paradoxical situation” and reverted to his old rhetoric after being outraged by the serious and equal treatment of Kosovo in the summit.

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, is participating at the meeting of the regional presidents, “Brdo-Brioni Process.”

 Jahjaga posted a picture prior to this meeting, where the President of Austria, Fischer, is invited as a special guest, in order to intensify the relations of the region with the European Union.

 Enlargement of the European Union, infrastructural projects and energy, are the key issues to be discussed at this year’s meeting of the “Brdo-Brioni Process.”

Jahjaga: Kosovo women are successfully challenging barriers (Koha)

Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, participated and spoke today on the occasion of the launch of the Network of Professional Women "Leadership and Growth Council". This event was also attended by representatives of the international presence in Kosovo. “What we're seeing very clearly today in your midst, it is a serious initiative aimed at equal treatment of women in society. Initiative which should become our common mission of every citizen and in every part of our institutions. You are women who have broken barriers, but your strength goes beyond that.

General Allen praises Kosovo's membership in the anti-ISIS Coalition (Koha)

Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahajga, met today with the US Presidential Special Envoy to the Global Coalition Against ISIS, General John Allen. Jahjaga informed Allen with actions taken by the Kosovo institutions and security mechanisms to prevent the global terrorism threat. General Allen praised Kosovo’s membership in the Global Coalition in the fight against ISIS and  its participation in the Working Group of the Coalition for the distribution of opposing messages.
