The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, was received today at the Congress of the United States of America in Washington. She met at the Capitol Hill senior members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US Congress, headed by Congressman Ed Royce and the senior member of the Committee, Congressman Eliot Engel.

Kosovo was treated as a state during the UN Summit of the world leaders against extremism, hosted by the President of the United States of America, reported Associated Press.

World media report that the seating chart for Tuesday's meeting shows Kosovo among the states attending the meeting, even though it is not a U.N. member state. Kosovo leaders participated at the summit invited by the United States of America.

Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, wrote on his Facebook page that Kosovo should become member of the international organizations, and it should be recognized by the five European Union countries. He added that Kosovo people deserve freedom of movement, without limits of visa regime. “Support for many other recognitions is required. Faster economic development could be reached only through political and diplomatic cooperation with other countries,” wrote Mustafa.

The Leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj commented the statement of the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, during his address to Kosovo’s new ambassador to the US, Vlora Citaku, where he expressed support for the border demarcation between Kosovo and Montenegro.

Eliot Engel, U.S. Congressman and Co-Head of the Commission for Foreign Affairs at the U.S. Congress, met today during his visit to Kosovo with the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Petrit Selimi and with the religious clerics of Kosovo. Deputy Foreign Minister Selimi together with the religious leaders and Initiative for Inter-religious Dialogue team, informed Congressman Engel on the success of the project of Kosovo’s public diplomacy on inter-faith dialogue.

The U.S. Congressman Eliot Engel, proposed to the institutions of Kosovo to find a solution for establishment of the special court and to the Assembly of Kosovo to vote for the constitutional amendments which open way for the establishment of this court.

Assessing that the special court was the issue “that has preoccupied the Security Council,” Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hashim Thaci, told the members of the Security Council that Kosovo will establish this institution on Tuesday “in order to cleanse our war and to isolate individual cases and negative actions.”
