Deda: Thaci cannot decide on his own about dialogue with Serbia (Bota Sot)

Co-founder of Alternativa, Ilir Deda, said the dialogue for normalization of relations with Serbia is a national issue which requires a broad consensus between political parties. In a Facebook post, Deda said that before agreeing to anything in the framework of the EU-facilitated dialogue, President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci would have to get the approval of political parties. “Kosovo’s state interest should be built only through broad consensus of political parties. It cannot be built by any institutional leader on their own”, Deda wrote.

 

Thaci: Let us leave aside divergences, continue with dialogue (RTK)

The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci requested from the entire political specter in Kosovo to leave aside political and party divisions, in order to support discussions between Kosovo and Serbia on normalization of relations.

In an interview given to RTK from Brussels, Thaci said that Kosovo’s only way for integration is that of dialogue and integration, and within this segment, he said, there should not be political divergences.

Mogherini meets with Thaci and Vucic (RTK)

The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini, has met today with Kosovo President Hashim Thaci. Later, she also received the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic.
The meetings were held prior to the joint Mogherini- Thaci- Vucic meeting, where the parties were expected to exchange opinions on the continuation of the dialog, and the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, as well as overall developments in the Western Balkans.

NISMA’s Sherifi: Thaci heading to Brussels dialogue without Assembly’s consent (Zeri)

Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) secretary, Bilall Sherifi, criticized the decision of Kosovo President Hashim Thaci to meet Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Brussels. In a Facebook post, Sherifi said Brussels dialogue should be preceded by an internal government-opposition dialogue in Kosovo which would result in “a national consensus” on the future course of action.

Vučić and Thaçi "agree to work on new phase of dialogue" (B92)

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on Monday spoke with Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi during an informal meeting in Brussels, hosted by EU's Federica Mogherini, reported B92.

According to the EU, Vučić and Thaçi agreed "work on starting a new phase of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina for normalization of relations and reconciliation."

The presidents "decided that the respective teams will start working on preparations," said a press release issued after the meeting.

Janjić: Normalization of relations does not lead to recognition of Kosovo (RTK2, Blic, Dnevnik)

Political analyst Dušan Janjić told RTK2 that a meeting at the presidential level in Brussels is of great importance for the normalization of relations.

In a statement for RTK2, Janjić estimated that no concrete decisions will be made at a meeting Thaçi- Vučić. He said that several months of “serious adaptation to this new format" will be needed for the political dialogue of the president of Serbia and Kosovo.

Former the EU Envoy for Kosovo, Wolfgang Petritsch considers Kosovo, at the moment, goes through difficult phase and it is necessary to continue the dialogue of Belgrade and Pristina at the highest level.

Petritsch stated to Tanjug that Kosovo economically does not progress much, it faces huge unemployment rate in particular among young population, and it represents a serious problem.

He also requested the swift formation of the Community of the Serb Municipalities, as agreed during the dialogue process.
