Buja: Elections should be held in spring (Telegrafi/Tribuna Channel)

Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) MP, Shukri Buja, said in an interview with Tribuna Channel that spring next year is the ideal time for early local and national elections. Buja is adamant that the PDK should break up its coalition with the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), “because this coalition was not right since the beginning”. Buja also said he voted against sending the 2017 draft budget to the Assembly, “because it contains many mistakes”.

Lekaj: Government commission should be dismissed (Tribuna)

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) MP, Pal Lekaj, said on Tuesday that during the border-demarcation debate organized for 3 August, the AAK will call for the current demarcation commission to be dismissed and for a new mixed commission to be established for this issue. “The current commission has an obligation to participate in the debate on 3 August, since it is being organized by the Kosovo Assembly.

UNMIK to issue arrest warrants for Kosovo (Tribuna)

War crimes remain an object of investigation even 17 years after the liberation of Kosovo. War crimes cases were previously under the UNMIK competencies and were later transferred as part of EULEX executive powers. But the EU rule of law mission since 2008 has not managed to solve 213 cases of this nature and is currently addressing 40 of them. Not being a full-fledged member of Interpol and not having contractual relations with Europol, Kosovo is still not able to issue international arrest warrants for war crimes suspects.

Abrashi: I believe the president will be elected this week (Tribuna Channel)

Minister of Labor and Social Welfare and spokesperson for the Kosovo government, Arban Abrashi, told Pristina-based Tribuna Channel he believes the president of Kosovo will be elected this week. “The ruling-coalition has the necessary numbers for the election of president and I don’t foresee any problems in this regard,”Abrashi said.

Kosovo government with special project on license plates (Tribuna Channel)

Kosovo Minister without portfolio, Edita Tahiri, told Tribuna Channel that the government of Kosovo is preparing a special project in regards to the license plates of the vehicles entering from Serbia. In this case, according to her, besides reciprocity the government is determined to solve two other problems.
