B92: "Big powers need crisis to keep Balkans on leash" (Vecernje Novosti, Tanjug)

Whatever model is offered as a platform by Belgrade to solve the decades-old Kosovo and Metohija puzzle, it will not be liked by "world powers."

The daily Vecernje Novosti writes this, adding that this is the case because bringing this painful topic to an end would mean the loss of a lot of leverage that these powers are using to try to keep Balkan nations "on a leash."

"Kosovo won't join UNESCO; they haven't even reapplied" (B92, Beta)

First Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic assessed on Sunday that Kosovo would not succeed in joining UNESCO.

Speaking during the marking of the anniversary of the Gorazdevac crime, Dacic said that Pristina has not filed a new request for membership.

According to him, Pristina is "aware that Kosovo would not be able to gain enough votes, and that owing to Belgrade's diplomatic activity even those who abstained (in 2015) would vote 'no'."

“Albanians plotting conflict between Serbia and Macedonia" (Novosti, B92)

Serbian intelligence services have received information of a risk of tension between Serbia and Macedonia, "in which Albanians would be involved."

Apart from them, "a part of the authorities in Macedonia" is included in this scenario, Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti writes.

The newspaper said it learned that "the plan is for well-armed groups of Albanians to infiltrate the border zone between Serbia and Macedonia." Allegedly, they would be dressed in Serbian military or police uniforms.

"Vucic to launch state dialogue on Kosovo in September" (BETA, Novosti, B92)

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will launch in September  "a state dialogue on Kosovo," something he announced at the start of his presidential mandate.

Beta is reporting this today, citing an article in the daily Vecernje Novosti.

The newspaper said that Vucic will invite all parliamentary parties to these consultations, as well as representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church, civil society, the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and other "relevant social factors."

B92: Croatia to have some role concerning Kosovo army (Večernje Novosti)

Croatia will not directly engage in the formation of the Kosovo army - as has been announced by candidate for Kosovo PM Alibin Kurti, writes Vecernje Novosti.

However, the daily - that refers to Kurti as "the leader of the Self-Determination" - adds that it learned from "well-informed military and political circles in Zagreb" that if the West gives green light to Pristina to transform the Kosovo Security Forces into armed forces, Croatia "will provide assistance first in military training."

Drecun – Last attempt to prosecute KLA crimes (N1, B92)

B92 reported on the statement of the Chair of the Serbian Assembly Committee for Kosovo, Milovan Drecun, who said that the Special Court for KLA War Crimes is the last chance to prosecute crimes committed by KLA members.

He further said that the Working Group, established by the Assembly Committee gathered all the evidences related to the war crimes, responsible bodies in Serbia have, and they would be put on disposal to the Kosovo Special Prosecution.

Vučić and Thaçi "agree to work on new phase of dialogue" (B92)

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on Monday spoke with Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi during an informal meeting in Brussels, hosted by EU's Federica Mogherini, reported B92.

According to the EU, Vučić and Thaçi agreed "work on starting a new phase of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina for normalization of relations and reconciliation."

The presidents "decided that the respective teams will start working on preparations," said a press release issued after the meeting.

Vucic will travel to Brussels at the invitation of the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security Federica Mogherini.

Mogherini, who will host the meeting, announced they will "exchange opinions on the continuation of the dialog, and the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, as well as overall developments in the Western Balkans."

"EU more popular in Serbia than in many EU member-states" (B92)

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic says that his country will maintain its "the road toward the EU" foreign policy course.

Speaking a day after Serbia's new government was elected, he said the EU integration was being carried out "for the sake of citizens, not for EU's sake."

The minister took part in the opening of a conference dubbed "Multi-speed Europe - Western Balkans in reverse" via a video message, and said that the new government will keep the priorities of the previous one.
