FM Dacic: Serbia's presence in America important for its national interests (RTS, TV N1)

Serbia has a need to constantly be present on the American continent to be able to protect its national and state interest in the best way, Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic said during his visit to Bogotá, RTS reported on Saturday.

Addressing the 49th session of the General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) in the Colombian capital Dacic said that Serbia has become an observer state in many American associations, with the OAS as the largest ones.

European Broadcasting Union did not accept Kosovo (RTS)

By majority of votes the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) rejected a proposal for Kosovo to become a member of the EBU, RTS reported.

RTS Assistant Director Milivoje Mihajlovic, who represented RTS in a meeting in Oslo, said Kosovo failed to join the EBU by precedent given that 673 voted against and 400 for changing the statute.

He pointed out the process lasted longer than a year and was initiated by five public broadcasters from the region – Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, North Macedonia and Hungary.

Stefanovic: Pristina’s claims about Interpol inaccurate, it exercises pressure (Tanjug, B92)

Serbian Internal Affairs Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said last night Pristina’s claims that Interpol General Assembly would consider Kosovo request to join this organization are inaccurate, Tanjug news agency reported.

Petkovic: Serbian people on verge of humanitarian disaster (RTS)

RTS reports this morning there are less and less basic commodities available in the shops in the north of Kosovo. Office for Kosovo and Metohija Deputy Director Petar Petkovic told RTS Serbia is doing its utmost to help its people, although Pristina tries to make the position of Serbia more difficult in any possible way.

RTS correspondent from Mitrovica North reported there was no delivery of goods from central Serbia dedicated for daily consumption in the north and other Serb-populated areas south of the Ibar River.

Drecun: Final phase of Pristina’s tariffs plan (Danas, BETA, TV Pink)

Serbian National Assembly Committee for Kosovo and Metohija Chairman Milovan Drecun said “the final phase of Pristina’s tariffs plan” is currently underway with the aim to provoke conflict with the Serbs and Serbian state, BETA news agency reported.

“Pristina works on it to cause conflict,” Drecun told TV Pink.

According to him, causing humanitarian disaster, respectively, leaving the Serbs without basic commodities is a tool towards the aim – to disable the dialogue and create conditions for conflict with Serbian state.

German ambassador to Serbia Thomas Schieb says that the Belgrade - Pristina dialogue is not dead even after the cancellation of the Paris meeting.

According to Schieb, the idea was not to change the role of the EU and the format of the talks, but to support the current framework of the dialogue.

“The dialogue is not dead, it is just not happening at the moment,” the ambassador told the state Radio and Television of Vojvodina (RTV).

Brnabic on Kosovo: I am not big optimist (Tanjug, B92)

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said the government would do its utmost to enable that the goods from central Serbia would reach all people in Kosovo and Metohija, Tanjug news agency reported.

She also expressed hope that the international community would start paying greater attention to it and enable free flows of goods in addition to the calls to lift the tariffs.

“I am not a big optimist, since November 21 they did not care much about the fact that media in Serbian language from central Serbia were banned in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija,” Brnabic said.

Lazarevic: Shortage of goods in north, last reserves are being sold out (TV N1)

Mitrovica-based KoSSev portal editor Tatjana Lazarevic told TV N1 that the lack of goods from central Serbia in the north of Kosovo is noticeable.

“What is being sold now, for the last ten days, comes from reserves. This was confirmed to us by small shop owners but also by the Association of Businessmen. They told us the last reserves are being sold out, and some shops appear to be better supplied because they have larger reserves,” Lazarevic said.

She also noted the situation appear to be normal at first glance, but “certain level of panic” is also noticeable.

Serbian officials and entrepreneurs have been warning that the north of Kosovo is a step away from “a new humanitarian catastrophe“, KoSSev portal reports today.

Meanwhile Kosovo officials and Pristina-based media claim it is an attempt to stage a humanitarian catastrophe.

Both official sides agree on one thing – “We will not allow it.“ But what do those who buy or sell products every day have to say?
