The paper’s front-page editorial notes that dialogue with Serbia has brought modest results but Kosovars are still the only people who cannot move freely in the Schengen Zone, “while Belgrade has received the candidate status for EU membership along with hundreds of millions of euros”. “Kosovo meanwhile has yet to become a member of the United Nations, it faces obstruction in its effort to join international organizations, it lacks its own telephone code, and has yet to be recognized by five member states of the European Union … Today, our politicians are richer and the people are poorer. The situation in the public sector is getting worse, the private sector, except for certain business, is barely surviving … Media are suffering under government pressure. Kosovo is far from post-war expectations and this is the reason behind the considerable decline of optimism among the people.”
