Former candidate for northern Mitrovica mayor, Adriana Hodzic, commented on recent actions by Krstimir Pantic saying that they show the latter’s full irresponsibility toward citizens in that region. Hodzic argued that there was no logical reason why Pantic should not have signed the declaration legitimizing him as mayor of northern Mitrovica.
“The agreement between Pristina and Belgrade reached in Brussels in April last year provides that mayors of municipalities have to take their oath with symbols of the Republic of Kosovo, same as their colleagues in other municipalities,” she said.
Hodzic did not rule out the possibility of running again for mayor of northern Mitrovica if there is a revote. “It is possible, I will not rule out this option, but there is nothing final yet,” she said.
Pantic told reporters earlier that he did not sign the declaration because it contained symbols of the Republic of Kosovo. Asked if this means that he will not be mayor of northern Mitrovica, Pantic said, “I will certainly not be a mayor of a municipality in an independent Kosovo”.
