Chief of Turkish diplomacy, Ahmet Davutogllu stated that Ankara will not apologize to Serbia regarding the statements of Turkish Prime Minister that Turkey is Kosovo and Kosovo is Turkey, because there was no insult in that statement, but only positive feelings, and stressed that the relations between Serbia and Turkey rely on the stability of Balkans, reported KTV. In an interview for Serbian daily, Blic, with the request of Ankara to clarify Erdogan’s statement made last year in Prizren, Davutoglu stressed that the statement of the Turkish Prime Minister did not have a political nature and it did not represent expression of expansionist policy.

“It concerns cultural definition. When you say in Turkish that “Kosovo is its second state,” this expresses cultural closeness. I sincerely hope that this should be sufficient to express our good intentions towards Serbian Government and population,” explained Davutoglu and added that a small sentence should not be drawn out of context of the entire speech.

He considers that the sentence “Turkey is as close with all other nations of Balkans,” is much more important.

According to the Turkish Foreign Minister, Kosovo and Bosnia are not part of Turkey and no one claimed anything regarding this issue.
