Anxiety for change (Bota Sot)

The editorial office’s opinion piece notes that “even the spoiled Alliance for the Future of Kosovo is now insisting on changes and calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Hashim Thaci”. The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) insists on national elections in June. Most political parties meanwhile prefer the timeline suggested by the LDK. Another problem that Thaci’s opponents are faced with is whether Thaci will run alone in parliamentary elections or if he will manage to bring together other political parties, or form a coalition with the AAK. Based on their current positions, the LDK, Vetevendosje and AAK do not plan to enter a coalition with the PDK, neither before nor after elections. Meanwhile, the LDK is the only one to meet with leaders of almost all political parties, starting with Prime Minister Thaci, Ramush Haradinaj, Behxhet Pacolli, Ferid Agani and Avni Klinaku. It has yet to meet with Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti. The current situation is tense and there is a feeling that the current government must resign as soon as possible. This seems to be a request not only of the opposition or their desire to rise to power, but also a request of the people that this hopeless government should come to an end. The government meanwhile seems to be feeling the heavy burden and is rushing to improve the grave situation in the country. The government announced today the decision to increase salaries, it decided to prevent Serbian elections in Kosovo and also decided to form the army of Kosovo. The formation of the army however should in no way be conditioned with reserved seats for minority communities!
