Opposition parties, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), said today that Serbian elections in Kosovo have violated the sovereignty and constitution of Kosovo. The ruling Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), on the other hand, denied the claims.

“Sovereignty has been violated. The government has proved irresponsible. Statements by government officials that only votes were collected is meaningless,” LDK parliamentary group chief, Ismet Beqiri, said after today’s meeting of the parliament chairmanship. “I cannot say what my party would have done if it were in government, because the LDK would never bring the country in such a position.”

AAK parliamentary group chief, Ahmet Isufi, too said that Serbian elections in Kosovo’s territory have violated the latter’s constitution.

Parliament Speaker Jakup Krasniqi did not comment on Serbian elections, although one day earlier he said that this is another deception of Kosovo citizens. “They are saying that ‘Serbia is not holding elections, but only collecting votes’. Can votes be collected without elections? What can we say about this latest deception? You should not insult the people’s intelligence. These are bitter decisions!!! The people should know the truth and only the truth. Lies do not hold water anymore,” Krasniqi said on the day of Serbian elections.
