Jonuz Musliu, former leader of the Liberation Army for Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac (UCPMB) and current mayor of Bujanovac, said today “if Crimea joins Russia through its referendum, this will make the unification of Presevo Valley with Kosovo easier because we had this referendum earlier”.
“If Moscow wants to have Crimea, Tirana and Pristina should do the same for Presevo Valley,” Musliu said. “Presevo Valley was always an integral part of Kosovo. Yugoslav communists took it from Kosovo in 1945-1956 in exchange for two municipalities in northern Kosovo – Leposavic and Zubin Potok. Let us recall the verdict of the Albanian people in Presevo Valley through the 1992 referendum when they called for political and territorial autonomy with the right to join Kosovo.”
