Prizren mayor Muja suspends his post

(All monitored broadcasters, KTV)

The Prizren mayor Ramadan Muja has suspended his post until second instance court makes a decision. However, Law on Local Self-Governance does not recognise self-suspension by a mayor.

On the other hand, opposition parties and civil society in Prizren, who have been demanding Muja’s resignation, qualified his decision for suspension as legally groundless. Consequently, their announced protest will take place in midday in Prizren downtown.

In the morning, Police arrested Kastriot Jahaj, Artan Abrashi, and Lirim Krasniqi prior to beginning of the protest. Afterwards, citizens gathered in front of the municipality building entrance, but they were arrested. All of them were released in the afternoon, but they must show up at the Court.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Local Government Administration (MLGA) told KTV that officially it still has not received the decision on position suspension by Muja.

Media industry calls for independent IMC Board

(TV21)

Members of the Ad Hoc Committee for electing Board members of the Independent Media Commission (IMC) called on all political entities to realise seriousness of this situation, and to encourage their MPs to take part in the voting procedure on Wednesday’s Assembly session.

The greatest concern is that again on the list there are candidates with political influence or affiliation.

The Association of Independent Electronic Media of Kosovo (AMPEK) hopes that on Wednesday the Kosovo Assembly will elect independent persons as IMC Board members.

There are five candidates for IMC Board members. Three of them are Albanians, and two are minority members.
