The end of EULEX’s mandate – transitioning and transferring of competencies to local institutions – was a topic of discussion in today’s meeting in Pristina between Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Hajredin Kuci, EU Special Representative to Kosovo, Samuel Zbogar, and EULEX chief, Bernd Borchardt.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Justice, Kuci reaffirmed the need for defining issues relating to EULEX’s mandate in order to prepare all the necessary legislative changes for a smooth transfer of competencies to local institutions.
“The parties agreed on the need for an agreement to be reached between Pristina and Brussels on EULEX’s mandate, in order to begin the necessary preparations for the transition state as soon as possible,” the statement reads.
