In today’s session, members of the Kosovo Assembly voted against inclusion to the agenda the debate on the Law on KLA Veterans. Out of 93 MPs present in the session, 62 voted in favour, 31 against, and 2 abstained. The procedure needed two-thirds of the votes, namely 64.

The initiative to incorporate the draft law into the session’s agenda was proposed by PDK’s Flora Brovina but the motion was opposed by LDK which criticizes the law for the failure to include members of the former Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kosovo, a military formation supported by LDK.

Prime Minister Hashim Thaci told the MPs that the Law on War Veterans would include all those who fought against Serb forces. “I continue to strongly insist that the contribution of every KLA fighter should be respected,” said Thaci as quoted by Lajmi.
