Serb MPs quit Assembly session

(RTK2)

Serb MPs quit the Kosovo Assembly session, since Draft Law on Elections was in a quick procedure included on the Thursday’s session agenda. They announce that they will boycott the Assembly sessions also in the future, unless an agreement is reached with majority political parties on changing the Law and providing reserved seats.

Unlike Serb MPs, most of other non-majority communities did not quit the session, except Bosniak community representative Emilija Redzepi and Gorani community representatives.

The Assembly session will resume on Friday, when Draft Law on Elections will be discussed.

Assembly again fails to elect Ombudsperson

(Most monitored broadcasters, KTV)

For the second time Kosovo Assembly failed to elect Ombudsperson. Xhuljeta Mushkolaj and Hilmi Jashari ran for Ombudsperson’s position in the second round, but none of them got 61 votes required. In the second round, Hilmi Jashari got 43, and Xhuljeta Mushkolaj got 41 votes.

The Assembly Speaker Jakup Krasniqi said that the voting ended here, while the Assembly must re-announce the vacancy.

CDHRF accuses MP Trajkovic

(Klan Kosova)

Council for Defence of Human Rights and Freedoms (CDHRF) accused MP Rada Trajkovic of speaking in Thursday’s Kosovo Assembly session as if she was in Serbian Parliament. This referred to Trajkovic’s statement when she called for releasing war crime suspect Oliver Ivanovic.

Trajkovic also blamed chairperson of the CDHRF Regional Centre in Mitrovicë/Mitrovica Halit Berani for putting pressure on witnesses to give abusing and false statements against Ivanovic. Furthermore, according to CDHRF, Trajkovic called for monitoring Berani’s work, which is an appeal to impede and arrest him.

Bahtiri fails to meet Rakic

(KTV, Klan Kosova)

The south Mitrovicë/Mitrovica mayor’s plan to begin construction of six houses in north did not work on Thursday. The mayor Agim Bahtiri admitted that Ministry of Returns notified him that construction of new houses in Kroi I Vitakut may not happen without permission of the mayor of north Mitrovica/Mitrovicë Goran Rakic. Mayor Bahtiri said he had agreed with his north counterpart to have a meeting on Thursday, where besides construction of houses, they would also discuss removal of barricades. Bahtiri stated that the meeting has been postponed, and it will take place next Thursday at 10:00hrs.

In a telephone conversation with Klan Kosova, Rakic said that he was not intending to discuss with his south counterpart on house construction or barricade removal, especially not at the present time.

However, Bahtiri insists that Rakic will meet him. He stated that nobody may prevent him to construct houses in north.

“Given that aid can come from Belgrade to Mitrovicë/Mitrovica for constructing their houses, why I as an unjustly divided municipality do not have the right to help those people?” Bahtiri said.
