The Kosovo Assembly Commission for Legislation has not discussed the request made by the Montenegrin community to be recognized as a constitutional community of Kosovo. The commission decided that it is not up to them to deal with this request. Arsim Bajrami, from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, stated that the Commission cannot deal with this request.

It remains whether the deputies of the Assembly of Kosovo want to move this issue forward, to collects at least 40 signatures from the deputies.

However, Bajrami suggested that the issue be left to the future legislature. According to him, this could be reached through the Presidency, Government or the Assembly.

“The request was mentioned for two years now, but was never preceded. If there is political will, then this should be reached in an institutional manner; someone from the authorized proposers for the constitutional amendments should propose that the Commission for Legislation cannot deal with this initiative,” said Bajrami.
