MPs are due to vote on Thursday on the Law on Kosovo Liberation Army Veterans, whereas veterans have announced protests if delays, surrounding the adoption of the law which provides them benefits, are continued.

President of the Kosovo Parliament Jakup Krasniçi, confirmed yesterday that voting will take place on next Parliament’s session on Thursday.

The Democratic League of Kosovo caucus whip Ismet Beçiri said that party will support the bill if its amendment, that all who fought and wore the uniform are treated in the same manner, is adopted. Such phrasing is not acceptable for Thaçi’s PDK and Haradinaj’s AAK.

“All who wore the emblem of the KLA should be acknowledged as veterans. There wasn’t any other military formation. There wasn’t any other command apart of the KLA Headquarters. Ministry of Defense was established as a part of Rambuillet agreement,” said Elmi Reçica, MP from the ranks of the DPK.

It is expected that Serb MPs will not support this law, if they turn out on session at all, due to announced boycott over the draft bill of amendments to the election law.

“What is unacceptable to me is that it reads that it is liberation army of the people of Kosovo. It is about the liberation army of Albanians. There is no liberation army of people of Kosovo, at least when it comes to position of Serbs,” said Rada Trajković, Serb MP in the Kosovo parliament from the United Serbian List.
