KTV editor-in-chief Adriatik Kelmendi argues in his opinion piece that the new tribunal, which is expected to try alleged crimes committed by members of the Kosovo Liberation Army, “will continue to stagnate the strengthening of Kosovo Albanian judges who should put to trial as soon as possible, without fear and with competence, the soon-t0-be war criminals together with all other criminals”. Kelmendi writes that according to Western diplomatic sources, the main advocates and lobbyists for the new tribunal are individuals who used to work for The Hague tribunal and others who believe that the KLA has yet to receive the merited punishment for Serb victims of the conflict. Citing the same sources, Kelmendi writes that none of the big fish of the KLA would be tried by the tribunal. Kelmendi further suggests that local and international officials should agree on the establishment of a reliable court that would address human rights violations in Kosovo between 1998-2000. The court, according to Kelmendi, would consist of local and EU judges and would be combined with a regional committee that would track human and material losses during the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia.
