Serbian MPs in the Kosovo parliament will not vote for constitutional amendments referring to the creation of the Kosovo Armed Forces (KAF), said Deputy President of the Kosovo Parliament Petar Miletić.

Constitutional amendments submitted by the Kosovo government on the creation of the KAF are forwarded to the parliament’s presidency, with the proposal that they are put on this week’s agenda in the Kosovo parliament. However, due to the opposition of Serbian MPs, constitutional amendments are postponed for a while.

“They were not put on the parliament’s agenda after we said that no one consulted us, no one talked to us. Outcome of the whole story is that constitutional amendments have been sent to the Legislation Commission, and after consultations with us takes place they might be put on the agenda. Considering that we are MPs who are representing Serbian community, we are not ready to vote for these amendments,” said Miletić.

Serbian MPs didn’t attend this week Parliament’s session again, and they are waiting for the confirmation with regards to reserved seats in the new Las on General Elections.

It was announced that Communities’ Council, which should meet next week, will argue in favor of the amendments benefiting Serbian community.

Lobbying is also ongoing with the international community, thus another meeting took place yesterday between the European Union Special Representative to Kosovo Samuel Žbogar and representatives of the US Embassy to Kosovo.
Miletić explained that Serbian MPs won’t give up reserved seats, while the biggest obstacle remains the Democratic League of Kosovo which resolutely opposes to reserved seats. He added that it still remains to be seen what will be the outcome.
