Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic has called on Kosovo Serbs today to participate in the 8 June parliamentary elections in Kosovo and said that boycotting elections was not a wise choice. “We need to act responsibly and in line with our state interests. Serbia will make this kind of a decision and it will not hide behind mayors of municipalities,” Vucic was quoted as saying in B92.

Vucic said Belgrade will give instructions to mayors of Serb majority municipalities in Kosovo and added he was confident that the instructions will be properly conveyed to the people.

“I don’t believe the Central Election Commission of Kosovo made the right decision; I also don’t think that non-participation in elections is a wise choice of Serbs. Nonetheless, we will not allow representatives of Serb majority municipalities to decide on their own without an agreement with Belgrade,” Vucic told reporters in Belgrade.
