Jahjaga and Assistant Secretary General at the UN, value progress in Kosovo (Koha Ditore)

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, hosted today the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Mr. Edmond Mulet.

President Jahjaga informed Mr. Mulet about general developments in Kosovo, the dialogue process with Serbia, and the early general elections, which will be held this Sunday. She stressed that all citizens should exercise their right to vote and elect their legitimate representatives.

President Jahjaga said that, in 15 years, Kosovo has achieved considerable progress in strengthening democratic institutions in partnership with the international community, and has built a comprehensive state.

Jahjaga expressed determination to continue cooperation with the United Nations and said that Kosovo institutions will contribute towards the successful conclusion of UNMIK.

 The UN Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Mr. Edmond Mulet, welcomed the progress achieved in Kosovo and stressed the determination of international institutions to advance all relevant processes. He said that the dialogue, as well as Kosovo’s growing closeness with the European Union, remained the main pillars of UN engagement in Kosovo. Mr. Mulet expressed appreciation to President Jahjaga for representing Kosovo at the Security Council and for her role in Kosovo’s partnership with the UN.
