A meeting between Kosovo Serbs and Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, which was postponed several times, was held in Belgrade on Tuesday. Representatives of the Serbian List which won the most votes in the recent Kosovo elections and municipal presidents spoke with Vucic about the future unified position.

Still, the prime minister didn’t, as expected, stand with them while Marko Djuric told the media about what was discussed at the meeting. We couldn’t find out where and why Vucic disappeared what caused speculations about whether the current government in Belgrade stands behind the candidates.

Djuric, director of the Office for Kosovo, among other things, said it was important that the Serbs take over part of the responsibility for the management of institutions and participate in government. Although some of the candidates for MPs already participated in the Kosovo government, Djuric hold the position that it is a provincial government and provisional institutions.

“For the benefit of our community in Kosovo it is extremely important to have influence in the events, as much as possible. Agreement on unified political action aims at higher participation in the Provisional Institutions of Self-Government in Kosovo. In the coming days we will carry out activities on this issue and I am confident that the Serbs in Kosovo and Serbia will emerge stronger from this process,” said Djuric.

“Serbs have paid a high price for the lack of unity in the past,” pointed out Mayor of Gracanica, Branimir Stojanovic.

Sasa Milosavljevic from Serbian Liberal Party said that Serbs will not interfere with the selection of the new government in Pristina. “The deal is that regardless who forms the government, Serbs will participate in it and more contribute to our community. We don’t want to influence composition of the government. They elected, they should agree and we will agree with that,” said Milosavljevic.
