Association of Journalist of Serbia (UNS) and Association of Kosovo and Metohija Journalists (DNKiM) most sharply protested against the detention of RTS journalist Andrija Igic in Gračanica/Graçanicë.

In a statement given to UNS Igic said that he stopped his vehicle close to the main entrance of Gračanica Monastery in order to take out the equipment necessary for making the report on the occasion of Vidovdan poets’ night.
“After I started to move away from that place, a police officer followed me and called quick reaction unit which arrested me. I got injured, after they pushed me against the wall,” said Igic to UNS.

Commander of Gračanica/Graçanicë police station Bratislav Trajkovic claims that Andrija Igic was detained because he refused to follow the order of an official person to move his vehicle and after he refused to cooperate with police.

UNS and DNKiM claim that police has misused their official authority because there was no reason for detention and keeping Andrija Igic in the police station for almost three hours, reads the statement.
