Women raped during the conflict in Kosovo are not included in the United Nations global report on sexual violence. Inclusion of Kosovo in such a report would make it easier for it to demand justice for rapes committed during the conflict. This has led to the initiative to start a petition to the UN to address the issue.

The petition will have four demands: international justice for raped women, launch of UN investigations into rapes and a subsequent official report that would help bring perpetrators to justice. The petition will also include establishment of international justice mechanisms to ensure victims of sexual violence receive adequate justice.

The initiator of the petition, Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri, said the women want to know from the UN why was Kosovo left out of the report and added that its inclusion would pave way for this crime to be institutionally recognised.
