After building the ‘Peace Park’ over Ibër River Bridge, northern Serbs have also started construction of Tsar Lazar’s square in vicinity of this bridge. Early on Wednesday, employees of “Novi Pazar Put” started cutting the asphalt and carrying out other works for construction Tsar Lazar’s square.

Marko Djuric, the Director of Serbian Office for Kosovo, was also present. He said that Serbs decide about Kosovo north.

“Of course, Edita Tahiri will not decide on what will be constructed, inseminated or harvested in the northern part of Mitrovica/Mitrovicë or in those areas where, in line with the law, Serb representatives in Kosovo govern. Such statements and behaviour are contrary to the spirit of normalization of relations and all that we strove to achieve over the past 20 months,” Djuric said.

Djuric also said that nobody can intimidate Serbs living in Kosovo. He said that ‘Peace Park’ will permanently stay.

“I wish that citizens of Serbia and all Serbs in Kosovo may know that they have no reason to fear the threats by Prishtinë/Pristina which could be heard over the past few days from Edita Tahiri,” he said.

His stance was also supported by all municipal councillors of Mitrovicë/Mitrovica south municipality- PDK, LDK, AAK, Vetëvendosje, AKR, AAK and PD.

In an interview with TV21, the outgoing minister of environment and spatial planning Dardan Gashi said that entrance should be banned to Djuric as he is calling for interethnic hatred with actions that he is carrying out on behalf of Serbian Government.

Gashi said that Kosovo government has decided not to allow construction of anything that impedes free movement of citizens, either in south or in the north of the town. Minister Gashi said that in case the ‘Peace Park’ will impede free movement of citizens, it will be removed.

Talking to RTK1, acting minister of interior Bajram Rexhepi said that it isn’t police responsibility to remove the barricade, until it is ordered so by the politics.

In the meantime, in a press statement issued late on Wednesday, acting Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri referred to Wednesday’s actions in the north as removal of one of the barricades.

She thanked the European Union and other international partners for their maximum efforts to start finding solutions for the new barricades that were placed recently over Ibër River Bridge.
