Following the erection of the ‘Adem Jashari Square’ in Bosniak Mahala, Municipality of Northern Mitrovica announced that all construction works which are carried out without the approval of the Municipal Assembly will be considered illegal and will be removed.

“Being the highest legislative body in the Municipality Northern Mitrovica, we request the cessation of all construction activities which do not have accompanying approval issued by the Municipal Assembly of Northern Mitrovica,” reads the statement and adds that municipal inspectorate will carry out the inspection of all objects.

The statement further reads that at the time when population doesn’t have elementary living conditions, regular water supply, proper parking lots or garbage collectors, it is highly irresponsible to rise tensions and intolerance with erecting illegal constructions.

“We would like to remind all citizens, but all political representatives as well, that they have to comply their actions to the rules and to respect the authority of the Assembly, in contrary they will face sanctions,” reads the statement.

During the night between Wednesday and Thursday Albanians, residents of Northern Mitrovica, have erected the Adem Jashari Square in Bosniak Mahala. Adem Jashari was the Kosovo Liberation Army commander.
