Constitutional Court suspends Mustafa’s election

On Wednesday, the Constitutional Court issued and published its decision on interim measure in regard to request of PDK MPs. The Constitutional Court unanimously decided to grant the immediate measure of suspending the decision on the election of Isa Mustafa as the Speaker of the Assembly, although he was voted by 65 MPs of the Assembly on 17 July 2014.

The Court also issued a decision for the Assembly of Kosovo to refrain from any action until the final decision of the Court.

The interim measure is valid until publication of the decision. This Court stated that it will take the final decision on this issue no later than 18 September.

LDK-AAK-Nisma bloc said that they respect Constitutional Court’s decision, while Isa Mustafa immediately suspended all his activities as the Kosovo Assembly Speaker, KTV reported.

In the meantime, Vetëvendosje Movement said that it will join LDK-AAK-Nisma bloc to address its comments to Constitutional Court against the request filed by PDK. This was confirmed to Kosovapress by Vetëvendosje MP Albulena Haxhiu. She said that they have agreed in principle with the bloc that biggest caucus belongs to those that have the majority at the Assembly.

Thaçi: Be patient and wait for Constitutional Court’s responses

Prior to publication of Constitutional Court’s decision on Wednesday, the caretaker Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi called upon on all political entities to wait for the opinion of the Constitutional Court regarding PDK requests and then make decisions.

”After the Constitutional Court provided an opinion requested by President Atifete Jahjaga, we have had some other activities that are being reviewed by this Court. I think this is a normal and transparent process within the framework of development of democracy. I also call upon all to be patient and to trust in independent institutions of Kosovo,” Thaçi said.

LDK refutes pressure on President Jahjaga

LDK considers the reaction that pressure is being put on the President senseless. Arben Gashi of LDK says that President Atifete Jahjaga should have already started consultations with political representatives that would lead to Government’s consolidation.

Gashi said that there are many ways, including legal ones, which the President could also use to release pressure from her, if that pressure exists in fact. According to Gashi, resignation is also one of President’s choices, in case she cannot stand the pressure.

LDK-AAK-Nisma coalition announces revision of all recent employments

Representatives of the LDK-AAK-NISMA coalition claim that if they form the Government, they will review employment of all the civil service staff members over the last six months. According to them, the outgoing Government has hired a huge number of activists without any criteria.

“Institutional vacuum, caused as a result of extraordinary elections, and delays in creation of new institutions have been damaging public administration in Kosovo,” reads a statement issued by the coalition. They also called upon the governmental officials to stop such practices.

Djuric calls for justice about killings of Grackë e Vjetër Serbs

(RTK1)

Director of the Serbian Office for Kosovo Marko Djuric called for justice about the killing of the 17-year old Serb Jovica Janicijevic, who was murdered together with his 13 relatives 15 years ago in Grackë e Vjetër of Lipjan/Lipljane.

Djuric said that Janicijevic was killed just because he was a Serb. He said that non-punishment of those who murdered Grackë e Vjetër Serbs also impedes normalization of interethnic relations in Kosovo.

Djuric made these comments in Grackë e Vjetër of Lipjan/Lipljane, where a monument was revealed on this anniversary.

Two Serbs sentenced to 22 years of imprisonment for war crimes

(RTK2, Klan Kosova)

Two Serbs from Babin Most village have been sentenced to 22 years of imprisonment for war crimes committed against Albanians.

The Court of Appeal in Mitrovica/Mitrovicë north confirmed its initial decision that Jovica Dejanovic is sentenced to 12 years, while Djordje Bojkovic to 10 years imprisonment.

Their lawyer, Ljubomir Pantovic, told Tanjug that this decision is a legal scandal.
