Williamson did not remove the mist (Koha)

Brussels-based correspondent Augustin Palokaj writes that SITF chief prosecutor Clint Williamson was clear in his claims that there is sufficient evidence to file indictments against former KLA leaders on several kinds of crimes. “But he also troubled a good share of Western diplomats by repeating that he ‘believes there were also cases of organ harvesting’ even though he admitted that there is not enough evidence that would stand in a judicial process. Perhaps Williamson should have kept silent about this until evidence is found, because he conducted professional legal investigations and did not prepare a political report. In doing so, Williamson too entered the political domain with his statement” Palokaj argues. Palokaj further notes that although Williamson said in his statement that charges will be raised against individuals and not against the Kosovo Liberation Army or Kosovo, “the image of Kosovo suffers greatly”. He also notes that after the establishment of the special court, trials of former KLA leaders will be a political challenge for Kosovo and the international community that has co-governed in Kosovo, especially in the judiciary.
