The Office of European Union in Kosovo has informed that it is finalizing arrangements about legal regulation and transition of the work of three international judges in Constitutional Court.
This way there is no uncertainty about the legal side and their legitimacy after 31 August, when it should have ended their mandate, according to the law that finalizes “supervised independence.”
It has been said that the arrangements are made based on the agreement ratified in the Assembly, after the exchange of the letters between Kosovo president and representatives of European Union.
This way, according to the agreement, European Union, will be the authority to propose international judges of Constitutional Court in any case until 2016. “European Union is ensuring to have continuity of the work of international judges after 1 September. Presently, we are in the final process of arrangements about this issue,” says in the response of the Office of European Union Special Representative in Kosovo.
The Office of Kosovo president, the authority that appoints judges of Constitutional Court through electronic mail, said that “Appointment of international judges will be made according to the law, Constitution and respecting international agreements ratified in Kosovo Assembly,” but is not explained if there is going to be a replacement of present judges, appointed from former International Civilian Office (ICO)
