Deputy Flora Brovina says the constitutive session of the Assembly will be called for the first week of September (kohaonline)

The ruling of the Constitutional Court, which gave the right to the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), stresses that “the 17 July constitutive session is not concluded and that it should proceed with the election of the Assembly Speaker and the deputies.”

According to the ruling, Flora Brovina should chair the session. The later, said for Radio Kosova that she expects the complete ruling of the Constitutional Court to be published at the beginning of this week, and that she would start with consultations for the continuance of the session, immediately after this. “So, I expect to harmonize our positions and proceed with election of the Assembly Speaker and deputy speakers in a regular manner,” she said.

 Xhavit Haliti, deputy leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, said that it has not been decided whether PDK would proceed again with Agim Aliu as candidate for Assembly Speaker, however he considers that based on the Constitution, political parties should support PDK candidate. “I consider that political parties, including the leadership, should sit and discuss eventual facilitation of the election of the Assembly Speaker by PDK,” said Haliti.
