A Salafist originating from Kosovo arrested in Germany (Tanjug/Akter)

In a routine control at the border with Austria a couple days ago, German police has caught and arrested to persons  under suspicion of being Salafists. One of them originates from Kosovo, carried German media. A spokesperson of the state Prosecutors’ Office in Munich said that there was an ongoing case against the 24-year-old man from Kosovo in Germany due to agitation for jihad-fighters.

Statement further reveals that arrested men were traveling to Salzburg and that they probably planned the departure to the Middle East. The second person, a 21-year-old Turk, is suspected of belonging to jihad warriors in Syria or Iraq, and was banned from leaving Germany due to his activities.

According to German security services’ data from the last year the number of Salafists in Germany is 4.500 and continues to grow.

A year ago radical Salafists have launched a campaign of delivering free samples of Quran in walking zones of German big towns and Berlin, what was criticized for being a propaganda of the extreme ideology.

“It is about a Salafi propaganda and recruiting. Quran is only an instrument,’ commented German experts the Salafists’ action. They also stressed that this fundamental group engages terrorists and suicide bombers.

According to experts, Salafists, who were also sympathized and by the Kosovo Albanian Arid Uka, who few years ago killed two American soldiers and inflicted heavy bodily injuries to another two at Frankfurt airport, pledge for return to original Islam, which was supposed to be exercised by first generations of Muslims.

Salafist is today the most common term and for Wahhabis, be it in Saudi Arabia or other states.
